Well, we made it! If anyone has flown WOW Air from Toronto to Keflavik before, you know it’s that back to the future style red-eye flight. We left Toronto at 7:30pm, landed in Iceland 5 hours later at 4:30 am.

Dopey and dreary, we grabbed a coffee and a smoothie and hopped on the FlyBus. We couldn’t pick up our rental van until noon, so we had to waste some time in downtown Reykjavik, which included breakfast and some more coffee at The Laudrymat Cafe.
Next stop, KuKu Campers to pick up our camper van. These guys were great. Hooked us up with all we could need, gave us some tips, and we were off!
A word to the wise, dining out here gets pricy (I am not going to tell you what that breakfast cost). We bought a few essential groceries and packed some freeze dried meals to save on cost.
The drive from Reykjavik to Holmavik was beautiful. We stopped for some photos but not as many as we would like as it is super unsafe to just stop in the middle of a winding moutain road to get “that” shot. Alas, they are saved in our memories.

Finally, we arrived in Holmavik in the Westfjords. We had planned to make more stops on the way, but we were exhausted. Tomorrow brings new adventure. Tonight, we are camped out at a beautiful site, enjoying the evening with a beer or two (clearly.)
Skal!

So cool!
Auntie Kathy wants to see the inside of the camper.
Food is stupid expensive ! Hope you are able to stop at the Museum of Black Magic and Sorcery, if only for their blue mussel soup. Those fjiords are breathtaking – and I never got over the staggering beauty.
Did not have the mussel soup 🙁 The only food so far has been the fish and chips on the pier in Husavik!
